Christmas has recently been celebrated by many peoples of the world.
The promise of a Saviour was fulfilled in the person of the Lord Jesus Christ. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call His Name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their sins (Matt. 1:21). Soon Christendom will be celebrating another promise fulfilled(Easter) in the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ. Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be delivered unto the chief priests, and unto the scribes; and they shall condemn Him to death, and shall deliver Him to the Gentiles: And they shall mock Him, and shall scourge Him, and shall spit upon Him, and shall kill Him: and the third day He shall rise again(Mark 10:33,34). And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen: remember how He spake unto you when He was yet in Galilee, Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again (Luke 24: 5,6 & 7). Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in Me, though he were dead, yet shall he live: and whosoever liveth and believeth in Me shall never die. Believest thou this? (John 11:25 & 26). Now we await another promise to be fulfilled . . . The return of the Lord Jesus Christ for those He has redeemed by His own precious blood. For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord (I Thess. 4:16 & 17). Just as surely as the first two promises were fulfilled the third one will be also. It may be fulfilled TODAY. If it is, are you ready? Have you trusted the Lord Jesus as your own personal Saviour? Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved (Acts 16:31). |
