Christendom at this season of the year is celebrating the birth of the
Lord Jesus - His first coming to this earth His FIRST COMING was announced. The Bible tells us, "And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:8-11 His purpose in coming to this world was to save us from our sins. "And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins." Matt. 1:21 It was necessary for HIm to come the first time to redeem mankind. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." John 3:16 When the Saviour finished the work of redemption by dying upon the Cross He went back to Heaven promising His own disciples He would return again to receive to Heaven all those who would believe or trust in Him. (see John 1:3) When He COMES AGAIN there will be no signs in the sky - no Angelic announcement of His coming. The Bible tells us that the Lord Himself will descend from Heaven to take away all those who have received God's gift, the Lord Jesus Christ, God's supreme gift to fallen mankind. His SECOND COMING will be a quiet one, only those who have had their sins forgiven by trusting in the Lord Jesus Christ will hear His call and be caught up to meet Him in the air. Will you be ready for His SECOND COMING? You may! Simply believe that when the Lord Jesus died on the Cross and shed His precious blood He died for you. |
